Favorite Fiber Places

I wanted to share with everyone a couple of my favorite fiber, spinning, knitting places. The first is Ravelry which was recommended to me by my brother's girlfriend Jeannine, (thanks Jeannine!) It's an on-line community of knitters, crocheters, and spinners. You set up a profile page and you can share projects your working on, trade/sell yarn remnants, get help with troubles you might have, share pictures, read articles on needles, processes and techniques. You can also join groups that specialize in your area of expertise (or the area you're interested in.) and share stories. It's a great site to join for anyone who's interested in knitting, crocheting, felting, weaving, dyeing or spinning.
The second is Heritage Spinning and Weaving in Lake Orion, Michigan. Even if you live too far, they have a great site and e-mail newsletter that sends out inspiring ideas, free patterns, and help from their group of expert fiber artists. If you do live nearby, they have a wonder selection of yarns, roving, dyes, spinning wheels, looms, and pretty much anything you need to create fabulous projects, (stuff you can't find in the big stores.) They also have great sales people who love to talk anything fiber, and will help you with any question you might have. Every time I go in there I feel like I've known everyone for years. They offer an assortment of great classes, and have open knitting times, and they do a lot of charity work where they incorporate the love of working with fiber, and great causes. Check them out!

  1. I'm visiting via Chicken Community-love the nest boxes. I clicked over and was also excited to see your choices of fiber arts sites. I'm relatively new to knitting and quite new to wool roving. I will check those places out.

  2. Welcome Gramerly!
Thanks so much for the comment. Yes, both places should have lots to offer for someone that's new. Thanks for letting me know how you found us.
