Zach and I fired up the incubator last night. Seven Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, little ovals of hope. Although, I'm not exactly full of hope with this batch. For starters, our rooster seems a little...ahem...shy.
Also, I know that our hen lays everyday around 1:00 in the afternoon, so if I got down there in time, the egg would still be warm. But a few of them got cold because of the frigid winter temperatures. They are supposed to stay above 40 degrees, I guess there's no way of telling unless I put them in the incubator. We will see???
I Think thy will we had some get down to the 30's and they all made it
ReplyDeleteOh good! That makes me feel more hopeful. Thanks iamone!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your eggs. A shy Rooster, that would seem to be an oxymoron. Just told my husband last night that the "girls" were looking a little aged and thought I should be ordering my chicks. We live in Maine, he suggested I wait a few weeks. Spring is in the air (and our minds). It did go down to zero last night...
ReplyDeleteGood luck to the little chicks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie, I know, shy rooster? But he's just clueless. Beautiful, but clueless! The hen I have him with is a year older and she rules that hen house. I really want offspring from the two of them, that's why I'm starting a little early, I hope they figure it out soon.
