First Batch of the Season!!!

Zach and I fired up the incubator last night. Seven Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, little ovals of hope. Although, I'm not exactly full of hope with this batch. For starters, our rooster seems a little...ahem...shy.
Also, I know that our hen lays everyday around 1:00 in the afternoon, so if I got down there in time, the egg would still be warm. But a few of them got cold because of the frigid winter temperatures. They are supposed to stay above 40 degrees, I guess there's no way of telling unless I put them in the incubator. We will see???

Good luck with your eggs. A shy Rooster, that would seem to be an oxymoron. Just told my husband last night that the "girls" were looking a little aged and thought I should be ordering my chicks. We live in Maine, he suggested I wait a few weeks. Spring is in the air (and our minds). It did go down to zero last night...

Thanks Bonnie, I know, shy rooster? But he's just clueless. Beautiful, but clueless! The hen I have him with is a year older and she rules that hen house. I really want offspring from the two of them, that's why I'm starting a little early, I hope they figure it out soon.
