We grew this variety from a seed packet geared toward children and gardening. And since pumpkins bring out the kid inside me, I thought it would be a great variety to add to our pumpkin patch. After doing some research, I found that the Lumpy Red, Warty Red Thing (yes "thing" is part of the name), or Bumpy Red is actually a hybrid from the Hubbard Squash. The pumpkin is quite large and makes for a great decoration, but is also edible, as are the seeds.
