The Romatic Story of Us!

I thought, since it's Valentines Day, you all might want to know a little more about Zach and my history. How we met, our first date etc.
This photo sit on our mantle. We are about the same age and both in sailor suits.

Zach and I met when we were six years old, 1987. We lived down the street from each other and shared our first grade class. Mrs. Simmons at Baily Lake School. I remember him being the boy with the beautiful green eyes. He says he doesn't have a lot of memories of me back then, except for a game of crack-the-whip on the elementary playground. Evidently I fell and he felt sorry for me. I don't remember this, but I'm glad he does.

We became better friends in 5th grade. We would ride bikes together with the neighborhood kids, and he came to my Halloween Party dressed as Dracula.

In Middle School we drifted apart, but ironically I became very good friends with his cousin Krissy and would stay the night at her house and swim in her (and Zach's) grandparent's pool. (Un-knowing that they were related.) I actually knew Zach's aunts and grandparents before we started dating, and they knew me.

In the summer after 9th grade we became best friends. I grew up riding dirt bikes with my brother and neighborhood boys (I was quite the Tom-boy) and Zach was right there in the mix. He was quiet and I was also shy and I was drawn to his subtle personality and the fact that he wasn't a show off.

We hung out all summer long, talking on my trampoline, having bon fires, going for walks in the woods and on August 3rd, 1996 I kissed him. Probably to this day, the bravest thing I've ever done. But what a pay off!

Our first date was at the Dollar Theater, and we saw Dragon Heart... stupid movie, but I didn't care. I was with him and that's all that's mattered.

Our first Dance, Homecoming 1996

We dated through High School and college, and became engaged in 2006. We had to cancel our wedding plans about three times because my dad became very ill and I was needed at home. But we were finally married on October 10, 2009, after 13 years of dating.

My dad passed away 5 months later, but I was so glad to have him at our wedding. He loved Zach like a son.

We've only been married 6 years, but I feel like there was never a time before Zach. In a sense, we grew up together. And I'm so glad that I have him to grow old with. Happy Valentine's Day to you all!
